About This Comprehension Guide
A five-day butterfly life cycle unit for ages 4–6, built to be read aloud. It opens with First an Egg, an original twelve-page picture book printed right in the front, which follows one monarch through every stage: egg, caterpillar, molting, chrysalis, wings. You read the whole book every day for five days, and the daily notes tell you where to slow down. Each day adds one thing: a question to ask before, two to ask after, an activity built from what is already in your kitchen, and a page for your child that is nearly empty on purpose. There are no comprehension questions and no answer key, because nothing here has a right answer. Also inside: the egg printed at its true size, a page on why almost every caterpillar picture book says cocoon when it means chrysalis, a sourced fact table for the questions you cannot answer, and an outdoor page that simply asks you to go and turn a leaf over. For preschool, pre-K and kindergarten. Homeschool, co-op, or a week at the kitchen table.
